Demanding Implementation, Challenging Obstacles:
End Violence Against Women

In Afghanistan, UN and other partners provided support to the Commission on Elimination of Violence Against Women (EVAW) in launching the 16-day campaign of ending violence against women.

It is an international campaign originating from the first Women's Global Leadership Institute in 1991, when participants chose the dates 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, International Human Rights Day for a 16-day campaign, in order to symbolically emphasize that violence against women is a human rights violation.
