To establish the "Afghan Women's Business Council" (AWBC), a series of meetings have been organized by UNIFEM for NGOs focusing on economic empowerment and business women, which has led to the establishment of an Advisory Committee. The meetings have also contributed to the organization of a mission by the US and Canadian businesswomen, and a a conference on women’s economic empowerment in June 2003.
