Elimination of Violence Against Women Consultative Group
The Elimination of Violence Against Women (EVAW) Consultative Group was established in 2004 to promote consultation among stake-holders and avoid the duplication of efforts for more effective programmes and activities related to the elimination of violence against women.
With a strategic framework in place, the group analyzes the quality of current activities and discusses how successful programmes can be replicated throughout the country.
Meetings are scheduled on a bi-monthly basis and as of December 2007, three meetings had been held.
The third consultative meeting was held on 14 November 2007. The agenda included:
- an introductory presentation by the EVAW Commission
- a presentation by the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) on activities aimed at eliminating violence against women
- an update on the EVAW consultative group website*, and
- an update on 25 November and the 16-day Campaign activities.
* UNIFEM is currently developing a web site in order to provide materials and programme calendars to all stake-holders.
