Gender and Justice

Institutional Capacity Building of the Ministry Of Women’s Affairs (MOWA)
Assists in building the capacity of the Ministry of Women's Affairs (MOWA) to act as the lead ministry for gender mainstreaming within the government of Afghanistan. more »
Community Empowerment and Economic Development
Strives to build Afghan women's capacity to effectively participate in the social, economic and political processes of their country. more »
Joint Programmes
UNIFEM is currently a partner in several UN - Government of Afghanistan joint programmes, including: Maternal Mortality Reduction, the Afghanistan Integrated Functional Literacy Initiative and the Girls Education Initiative.
UNIFEM also supports the UNESCO Literacy Initiative For Empowerment (LIFE) 
and works together with the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) , the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) and others.
